Next Stages

After the winners were chosen an email was sent to each person congratulating them:

Congratulations!

You have been selected as a winning entry for the Illustration category. We were extremely impressed with your entry and would love to feature it in our Zine.
We will contact you Monday 9th May with further details of your involvement. This will entail telling us a bit about yourself and sending us a small PDF portfolio alongside a current photograph of yourself (our creative team are keen to use this in order to generate an illustration for the zine.)

Many thanks,
Editors of Stalker Zine

Further emails were sent with the requirements for stages two and three, below are copies of these emails:

What is the zine?

Why Stalker? - 'Stalker' is a term known widely to mean someone who follows another person on Facebook. We would like to combine this idea with the traditional form of a zine; creating a 'stalk my work' theme throughout; the reader can stalk the work of the creative instead of their everyday life.
The website (under construction) will showcase the best entries from our open brief, alongside the winning entries. It will be a place for creatives to browse what others have tackled the monthly brief and to gain inspiration for their own work.

What does the zine look like?

The zine is going to be laid out differently to the A5 booklet norm. Rather than this, Stalker want to give the 6 best artists from that month's open brief, the opportunity to have their own mini zine. Your winning A3 entry will appear as a poster which will then fold down into the mini zine. The reverse side will include an illustration of yourself, an edited sample of interview questions and answers and a few examples of your portfolio. The 6 mini zines will then be stacked, tied and sold as a package. See the example attached for the zine layout (PDF or Word depending on your Computer!)

The next stage

There are two more stages we wish for you to complete in order for us to edit the content and publish the zine.

Stage One - to be completed and sent back by Midday Thursday 12th May

Email a recent up-close photograph of yourself that you'd be happy for our creative team to re-produce as an illustration
Please answer the interview type questions on the attached word document, providing as much detail as you can. This is a chance to showcase your personality and a selection of your answers will feature in the zine.
Stage Two – to be completed and sent back by midday Monday 16th May
Send us a small selection of your past and current work (JPEG, PDF or something similar like Flikr – no more than 6 pieces) to give us a flavour of the work you produce. Please also provide a short description of each piece.
Write a couple of sentences providing a background and explanation to your winning entry.
We thank you for your efforts so far and if you have any qustions regarding the next stages please feel free to email the team and we will be happy to answer,
Editors of Stalker Zine
